Are There Any Gulag Survivors Still Alive?

Believe it or not, there ARE a few real gulag survivors that are still alive and well. These are special times, because it will not be very long before there are no remaining survivors from the gulag camps or the holocaust, nazi concentration camps. There are many people who try to say that such events never occurred and one day when no real survivors are left, more people might buy into those radical theories unfortunately.

Just to survive a gulag (Soviet slave labor camp) is an amazing feat and test of one’s strength and sanity. But to survive the gulags, escape and still be alive and well today in your late nineties is also a miracle of its own.

Many survivors have been generous and patient enough to share their stories with us and there are thousands of eye witness accounts, photographs, paper records, painful memories, stories, notebooks, diaries and even video footage. These people were exposed to extremely cold weather conditions, starvation, overworking, underfeeding, beatings, torture, psychological torment and anything you can think of that would be in your worst nightmares.

This was Joseph Stalin’s way of “cleansing” Russia of the “enemies of the state” and to make sure that no one would pose a threat to his regime. Millions of people dead and suffered all because of one person’s political opinions and extreme views.
